Here we go again

Woman in Chains is our next big project. Of course, it didn't start out "big". To the contrary, it was supposed to be a simple, 5 actor short film. We'd shoot it in one or two locations over the course of a couple of weeks. Little to no dialogue, black and white... easy, peasey... one, two, threesie. It's funny how things change. As I sit here writing this, I've returned from working on the CGI construction of the house in which our characters will live. What started out as "PI" (check your video store) is turning into "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow". Now, I'm not complaining about this at all. The idea of pulling this off is more than exciting to me. It's just a little suprising how things can just take a left turn at Albuquerque and the next thing you know, you just don't know!
We scouted the prospective location for the film tonight and it's simply not going to work. There are a couple of shots we COULD shoot there, but at this point I don't know if it's necessary. It's a little dissapointing considering I've been bugging my friend Justin for about a year and a half to get over there and scout the place and now that we've finally made it, we're not going to use it. Ah, such is life. He's a good guy, he'll understand.
So, now we get to look the script over again from a completely different stand point. How are we going to match the live action footage with the CGI locations.. I had hoped to focus on the performance enhancing aspects of direction this time, but it's starting to look like we're going to have to pay a little more attention to lighting and blocking and technical stuff... headache stuff for me. Terry loves it!
So will we be able to pull it off? Check out the image below and you tell me.

Ladies and Gentlemen.. meet the bad guy!
Friday, September 28, 2007, 10:25 AM
We received several viable applicants for the role of Harold. Believe me when I say that it was a tough decision. However, after much deliberation Requiem is proud to announce that the role of Harold in the upcoming Woman in Chains has been graciously accepted by Mr. C.J. Johnson.
CJ brings years of film, television and commercial performance to the role and we have tremendous confidence that he will deliver a stellar performance.
We are still accepting entries for roles as "attendees" for a wedding reception scene in W.I.C. This will require one full day of shooting and should be lot's of fun for those of you wanting to add some lovely film experience to your resume.
If you are interested in taking part, please click the "contact us" link above. We look forward to hearing from you soon.

CASTING CALL

Forgive us of our slightly outdated web site. Sadly, there have been more pressing matters to attend to over the last six months.. but we shall quickly remedy the situation.
Woman in Chains is still looking for the right man for the lead male role in Woman in Chains. Here's a little about the project and the role.
Woman in Chains is the story of Ruth, Harold's trophy wife; who has spent her life the subject of varied and unspeakable acts of abuse. Harold is a proud man. Authoritative, somewhat emotionally detached, ego driven and prone to misdeeds to satisfy his urges. His house is large, beautiful and perfect. His job is rewarding financially, offering the authority a man like Harold deserves. His wife is beautiful, discreet and if she knows what's good for her.. quiet. As our eye sets upon her, sitting silently at the dining room table, we begin to see an evening dedicated to the celebration of the dignity she has never found in life... by the pursuit of death. Ruth will end it, once in for all. What will happen to Harold? Find out first hand.. or catch it at a film festival near you.
Do you have the chops to portray Harold, a man of authority, intensity, and focus?
Can you do it without dialogue?
For lack of a better phrase.. Woman in Chains is not a "talkie". Well, not for the most part. Harold has no on screen dialogue. The acting for this part will require a strong, organic ability to convey subtlety of emotion through expression and posture. We prefer an actor residing in the Wichita Kansas area. This is a very low budget company, and the rule of thumb is "every penny goes on screen". So travel, lodging and accomodations may be an obstacle for you.
But if you feel that you are the right person for the part, with the desire and dedication to bring this experience to life.. please forward a headshot and resume to:

We look forward to hearing from you.

"Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated"

Our deepest apologies to those of you who have waited patiently for Requiem to return.. While I would like to say that "Requiem is back!!"; the truth is, Requiem was never really gone.
In February 2007, shortly after the premier unveiling of "Turning Back", events unfolded which threatened to unravel our plans for future projects. While these troubling events may have prevented us from moving "full steam", I assure you that those issues are now close to resolution. 2007 has been a troubling and trying year for us, but through the grace of God we have weathered the storm. I, for one will never be completly the same, but our resolve is strong and our will is good. We will continue to work to provide quality independent film.
Our Apologies for the Delay: To those of you who placed orders in February for our great Requiem products... rest assured that your orders will be filled no later than October 31st, 2007! Once again, our sincerest apologies for the delay.
Our Appreciations: For those of you who have stood by us during this unbelievebly difficult time. You are counted among the many blessings the lord has given us and you know who you are.
Our Understanding: For the one or two people who chose to distance themselves from us during this difficult time. YOU know who you are too. Character and cowardice are polar opposites. Though in constant struggle... one will always win out over the other. Have a good life and a good career.
I heard once that the true measure of greatness is not whether we fail, but how we handle that failure. I've learned alot of lessons over the last 6 months.. some painful, some that defy explanation, and some that have changed me permanently.
In the end though, all it amounts to is "change". Transition can be painful and more than a little scary. But if we have to have faith and the will to roll with the punches.. change can be a good thing.
We're still here...
